Opal is a beautiful gemstone that is known for its unique play of color, also known as “opalescence”. It is a mineraloid gel that is composed primarily of silica, it is a non-crystalline form of silica, which makes it different from other gemstones such as quartz. Opals come in a variety of colors, the most common being white and milky, but it can also be found in black, grey, orange, yellow, green, blue and red.
