IRecently, I was asked about Child abuse in the mining industry. This question gave me a nudge! I started reading more on this topic and I have never come across this issue in Dubai, as a jeweler I get my customized orders made by out sourcing to another company with skilled labors from different countries, who work here locally. After digging more on the topic, I found out that tons of children work in Gold mining industries – Below and above ground. Most of them are very poor and don’t go to school . They are made to do same work as adults and not paid enough. The children are exposed to heat, chemicals, poor ventilation, dust, noise at very tender age. The result can be serious respiratory conditions (such as silicosis), constant headaches, hearing problems, eyesight, mental disorder and Physical disorders.

Governtment and related authorities should look into the matter seriously, make more awareness of the child abuse to save innocent lives.
