In Hindu mythology, it is said that the nine gemstones that correspond to the nine planets were given to humankind by the gods to help protect them from harm and bring good fortune. Each gemstone was believed to have specific healing properties and to be associated with a particular planet.

It was said that the god Dionysus, who was associated with wine and intoxication, became angry with a mortal who insulted him and decided to pour his wrath upon the next person he met. This happened to be a young maiden named Amethyst, who prayed to the goddess Diana for protection. Diana transformed Amethyst into a statue of pure crystal to protect her from Dionysus, and when the god realized what he had done, he wept tears of wine that fell onto the crystal, staining it with a deep purple hue.
In Chinese astrology, it is believed that wearing a jade gemstone can help to balance the energies of the body and protect against negative influences. Jade is considered to be a symbol of purity and is associated with the heart chakra, which is believed to govern love and compassion.
